While fantasy football fans get ready for Week 3, some of them made their mark in a big way. Harold Fannin Jr., Hunter Renfrow, Troy Franklin, Elic Ayomanor, Tyler Allgeier, Jake Browning and Bryce Young are the ones getting all of the headlines. Most importantly, they are demonstrating their incredible talent and ability in the playbooks!
Harold Fannin Jr. is the one setting the scoring pace, leading the team with 11.7 PPG. The fourth-year, lightning-quick receiver has been on the same page with veteran QB Joe Flacco, snagging 12 of 14 targets from Flacco. This big link is bound to help fantasy owners. Fannin Jr. conjured an impressive 111 receiving yards to boot. His performance this week further exemplifies that he is an emerging consistent passing game threat.
Hunter Renfrow and Troy Franklin Shine
In Week 2, Hunter Renfrow stole the show even though his team lost to the Cardinals. He hauled in seven of his nine targets, racking up 48 receiving yards and two touchdowns, giving him a strong 23.8 points. Renfrow’s knack for finding the end zone is key to his fantasy appeal going forward, but he is a longer-term add.
Troy Franklin was just as impressive as any receiver in Week 2, and it came against the Colts. He owned the highest point per reception value, totaling 24.0 points on eight receptions on nine targets for 89 yards and one touchdown. On his team’s offense, Franklin is a huge difference maker. So stay tuned as the season goes on and see what else he has to offer!
Elic Ayomanor, the former one time USMNT player, and NFL seem to be consistently a game changing emerging player. He posted 15.6 points in that Week 2 emergence against the Rams. This performance showed all the traits that indicate he can be a key contributor in the weeks to come. That progress on tape is a strong indicator that he’s poised to emerge as one of his quarterback’s most trusted targets in short order.
Tyler Allgeier and Jake Browning Deliver Solid Performances
Tyler Allgeier has carved out a place in the backfield all season long. He’s on pace for 208 carries through the first two games. He played a pivotal role in his team’s Sunday night victory over the Vikings by scoring the only touchdown of the game. His efforts were responsible for the victory, but more importantly, locked his place as a true fantasy diamond in the rough.
Jake Browning has proven to be just as important off the field. In his last game, he threw for 241 yards and two TDs, scoring 17.74 points. To show off his dual-threat ability, Browning added a one-yard rushing touchdown to his tally. He’s still a work in progress, continuing to develop his rhythm. Before long, he could become a tantalizing sleeper candidate for fantasy managers looking for some serious depth at the quarterback spot.
Bryce Young’s Struggles Amidst High Volume
Unlike many of his contemporaries, Bryce Young has had a tough go of things early in the season. Though he’s attempted 90 passes total over the first two games, he’s tossed three picks through just two contests. Such struggles are sure to cause worry for fantasy managers who took a gamble on Young as their starting QB1. While that is not nearly the same level of production, his high volume of attempts means he still has plenty of opportunities to create valuable fantasy points going forward.
With Week 3 fast approaching, fantasy football managers will be almost obsessively monitoring these players and their role trends. With some emerging stars and established contributors stepping up, there are plenty of options available to enhance fantasy lineups.
