Myles Garrett, the tremendous defensive end of the Cleveland Browns, is this year’s Defensive Player of the Year. With this accolade, he further establishes his place among the best players in the league. At 28 years old, Garrett already has made history. He is the first player to reach 100 career sacks before his 29th birthday since the NFL began officially recording sacks in 1982. In the first two games of this season, he has proven how incredibly skilled he is. On the year, he’s tied for the league lead with 3.5 sacks.
In an incomprehensible twist of fate, all world rookie sensation Micah Parsons was just traded to the Green Bay Packers. This change follows his recent trade dispute with the Dallas Cowboys. The young linebacker recently signed the biggest deal ever given a defensive player—four years, $188 million. This agreement shatters Garrett’s own four-year extension with the Browns, worth $160 million. With Parsons’ new deal it raises him above phenomenal talents such as T.J. Watt and Ja’Marr Chase. Now he’s the highest-paid non-quarterback in the league!
Jack Garrett and Parsons are focused and committed to achieving greatness on the field. They put a value on maintaining their good personal and professional relationship. Consequently, he’s been on a snap count, playing only 30 snaps in week 1 and 47 snaps in week 2. Luckily for the Patriots, he’s no longer spotted on the team’s injury report and is slowly getting back into playing shape.
Parsons shared that he was feeling good about the progress he’s making in recovering from his back surgery.
