Josh Allen Likely to Don Visor for Protection in Upcoming Game

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is expected to wear a clear visor during the team’s upcoming “Thursday Night Football” game against the Miami Dolphins. He had his nose all bloodied up late in the first quarter of the Bills’ 30-10 win over the New York Jets last Sunday. That’s why we issued this decision.

Allen only ended up missing two snaps before he stormed back onto the field with the gauze in his nose. He was able to play through bruising postgame. Even in the face of injury, he said, “I can still breathe, so that’s nice.” The Bills’ coaching staff did not release his name on the injury report for this week. That’s an encouraging sign that he’s healthy enough to play in the first place!

This would be Allen’s first time taking the field with a visor in an NFL game. He’s been known to sport various practice visors through the years and employed one during his college days at Wyoming as well. In fact, Allen plans to wear the visor “most likely” against Miami. What he is doing is actively working to become accustomed to it.

“Your voice kind of echoes off of it too, so it’s just, it’s a little bit weirder,” – Josh Allen

Buffalo’s head coach, Sean McDermott, made light of Allen’s injury, stating, “Yeah, his nose didn’t get any bigger, I don’t think.” This joking aside gives a good image of the team’s positive vibe as they face what’s expected to be a tough opponent on Wednesday.

At 29 years old and entering his eighth season, Allen has been virtually indestructible. He has a phenomenal record of 107 straight starts, giving him the longest active streak for any QB. Tom Brady is the record holder for the most recent QB to end this streak. He managed to accomplish an incredible 110 straight starts from Week 5 of 2016 through the end of the 2022 season.

As the sparkplug Bills prepare for their next big clash with the surprising Miami Dolphins, Allen’s focus is on continuing to perform and keeping healthy. Even with the recent injury, he’s never really missed a lot of playing time other than as a rookie.
