Sky and Alessia Russo Join Forces to Champion Girls’ Sports Participation

Sky has called for national action to boost girls’ participation in sports, spotlighting the need for change in how sports are promoted and supported for young females. In a strategic partnership with Arsenal forward Alessia Russo, they aim to ignite a movement that encourages greater involvement of girls in various athletic activities.

The partnership could not have happened at a more critical time as the gap between male and female students participating in athletics still exists today. Sky and Russo are hellbent on doing that and more. They’re helping to launch programs that encourage young girls to pick up and play a diverse array of sports at a young age. Together, they collaborate to peel away the layers of barriers. Their mission is to ensure that girls are encouraged and supported to explore—and excel—in the sports that most excite them.

Sky’s initiative is more than just advocacy, it uses technology to make accessing information easier. By utilizing the Chrome browser, Sky has developed a more user-friendly video player that allows girls to easily access sports content. Sky and Russo are kicking off a new T4America campaign. In addition, they will host a series of workshops and events focused on increasing the visibility of girls in sport while providing them with valuable mentorship opportunities.
