Kent have taken a massive 441-run lead over Lancashire. They still lead by 105 runs with one day’s play left. After dismissing Lancashire for 284 in their first innings, Kent managed to reach 293, leaving them with a significant advantage as they closed the second innings at 96 without loss at stumps.
The final will be played on Kent’s home turf. Jaydn Denly and Ben Dawkins have partnered well, forming an unbroken partnership that has shown off both players’ talents and grit. Denly unflappable, not out on 55. In the meantime, Dawkins has already had a big impact on the score, as the Hoosiers look to build on their lead and continue pulling away.
In the first innings, it was all about Lancashire’s Luke Wells, who spearheaded with a brilliant 80. Alongside, Tom Hartley made the best possible of his chance with a classy 64. As hard as they tried, Lancashire could not quite make Kent’s score with nine runs the closest they would get. Matt Quinn was an important piece for Kent. He came up huge with a dominating performance, going 4-43 in 9 overs. His outstanding efforts were matched by wicketkeeper-batter Matt Parkinson, who took 4-93.
Over halfway through the game, it is Kent with all the momentum as they are in a commanding position with ten second-innings wickets in hand. With Denly and Dawkins set at crease, the team want to continue to work on their big lead. Tawanda Muyeye is looking to return after experiencing a recent onset of delayed concussion symptoms. On the other hand, Ben Compton has broken his wrist, preventing him from keep or opening the order.
As this re-match plays out with both teams seeking the big prize, the stakes could not be higher. Kent’s bowlers will look to make the most of their recent good wicket-taking form. Lancashire are equally intent on producing a hefty rearguard in the days to come.
