In this week’s rankings update, big movers all around the NFL as players race through their 2023 season. Ja’Marr Chase, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and most recently Daily Show Brian Thomas Jr. have been successful in much more egregious circumstances. By comparison, a host of other players are building major momentum. With teams looking ahead to their next opponents, these rankings are an indication of what’s just happened and what could be down the road.
Players Experiencing Declines
Ja’Marr Chase had a down week, which has affected his overall WR rankings. In the same vein, Amon-Ra St. Brown experienced a drop off in his playmaking metrics, leaving doubts about his consistency in the future. Brian Thomas Jr. failing to consistently put his stamp on games led to a slight ranking tumble.
These setbacks for Chase, St. Brown, and Thomas have left fans and analysts alike pondering their future contributions to their respective teams. With the rest of the season ahead of them, they need to recover. The hope is to restore themselves to their place in the pantheon of the league’s great players.
Rising Stars of the Week
Brenton Strange and Kyle Pitts Sr. are both having really good weeks. They’ve apparently been doing something right because they recently made it into the top 25! Yet their performances have turned the heads of analysts who think they can do the same on a more consistent basis going forward.
Garrett Wilson and Zay Flowers — both of which have recently surged into the top 20. What’s even more remarkable, though, is the growing influence of these leaders on their teams. Joining the group is Emeka Egbuka, who made a strong case in his last game to be considered among the best talents the league has to offer.
As demonstrated by the ascension of these players, the path to success in this young, evolving, and fiercely competitive league requires audacious talent and tenacity. Those performances will be highly-anticipated as they try to hold strong or move up their respective leaderboards over the next few weeks.
Notable Rankings and Injuries
Other contenders still work to cement themselves among the elite. Derrick Henry remains a dominant force, having already established himself within the top three before exhibiting a powerful performance against Buffalo. On the other end, Christian McCaffrey absolutely crushed volume in Week 1, etching his name deeper in the top contender tier.
Brock Bowers got the best possible news on his knee injury, and that’s enough to push his ranking trajectory sky-high. That’s how suddenly Tyreek Hill and Terry McLaurin both slipped out of the top 20. Yet, they remain within striking distance of re-taking their positions in the near future!
Injuries can muddy the waters among contenders and pretenders. For example, George Kittle dropped slightly in his ranking due to a hamstring injury. Speaking of long-time relevants, despite getting hurt in Week 1, Aaron Rodgers still breaks the top 20, a testament to his continued popularity and influence.
