Dolphins Focus on Preparation for Season Opener Against Colts

The Miami Dolphins are preparing for their 2020 season opening game this Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. In response to that challenge, they’re focusing harder than ever on team chemistry and preparation. With big names like DeVante Parker and Robert Hunt returning from injury, the Dolphins want to maintain their new-found offensive cohesiveness.

Tyreek Hill, perhaps the greatest playmaker on the Kansas City Chiefs, who are loaded at wide receiver, attributes his success to work ethic. He believes he will always be seen as the hardest worker on the team, citing his dedication to the small details that can make a significant difference. “I feel like I’ll always be like the hardest worker on the team no matter what, because I’m always doing the small things, whether that’s running after practice when nobody’s watching or whether that’s catching like 500 passes off the Jugs machine when nobody is watching,” Hill stated.

Hill’s work ethic has not wavered despite facing injuries during training camp alongside teammate De’Von Achane, who dealt with an oblique injury. As of now, both players have returned to practice this week, but only as limited participants. To that end, Hill proudly declared that he never gets out of shape. “I’m one of those guys,” he underlined, “I never get out of shape.” He says he feels “fantastic” now and is looking forward to doing what I can to help us win on Sunday.

Darren Waller, another significant addition to the Dolphins roster, unretired after a season away from football and was traded to Miami in July. However, his hip injury for the past year has completely limited his training. Accordingly, he’s been compromised for much of camp, missing action on Wednesday and Thursday. In the face of all this adversity, Waller has never quit mentally. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa noted Waller’s commitment, saying, “I think the cool thing about ‘D-Wall’ is he’s been staying locked in mentally.”

As the Dolphins prepare for their first game, Coach Mike McDaniel maintains confidence in the team’s ability to build chemistry quickly. “I think he’s been really locked in throughout the past couple weeks and then we’ve had some reps with him as well, so we’ll see how much playing time he gets this Sunday,” McDaniel remarked regarding Waller’s status.

The offensive line and play-calling will be crucial as they face a Colts defense that aims to challenge Miami’s attack. McDaniel is confident that extensive preparation now will lead to success when it’s time to go live. Assistant coach Frank Smith emphasized the importance of a mental process leading to performance. Smith stressed the need for a good mental process. He told them about how you have to be detail-oriented in tape study, in-class learning and on-field walk-throughs to play at a high level.

With Sunday nearing, Hill and Achane are taking advantage of each and every chance to sync up with Tagovailoa. Both players are looking forward to showing they’re ready to give a full effort when it counts against Indianapolis.
