Turbulent Over for Oshane Thomas Helps Saints Secure Victory

Oshane Thomas struggled against the England U19s earlier this month. The victorious Saint Lucia Kings saw off competition from the Guyana Amazon Warriors. The upcoming match set to take place on [insert date], articulated Thomas’s misfortunes on the field. Yet during the critical 15th over, he was put under intense psychological pressure by the opposition.

The Warriors were fighting to come back from a soon-to-be 95-5 deficit, when the savior, Thomas arrived. With the Kings requiring 24 runs to win, the pressure was on both teams to perform. Unfortunately for Thomas, the over turned out to be a turbulent one, as he had trouble getting on track in the first few pitches.

It was an inauspicious start for Thomas – the over began with a dot ball, followed by a four. However, it quickly spiraled downward. He then bowled a no-ball, followed by a wide ball, exacerbating his troubles even more. Romario Shepherd opportunistically took his chances when Thomas erred on a few occasions. He then lofted a no-ball delivery over mid-wicket, clearing the boundary with dodgy IPL-sized six.

Thomas’s troubles persisted as just a few deliveries later he overstepped again, leading to a second no-ball. This time, as the ball was hammered over square-leg for yet another six, it was welcomed with every kind of vitriol. By that time, Thomas was under siege. It took him five attempts to deliver a legal third ball the over!

All of this made it very difficult for him to bowl a legal delivery, which he was able to do eventually, but the damage had already been done. One specific ball from Thomas conceded an incredible 22 runs that over. It shows how important overs can be in cricket matches.

By the time he finished his two-over spell, Thomas was left with impressive figures of 1-18. He took the claim, point blank, a wicket for his side in the Test. His 10th over would prove to be one of the deciding factors in this game. The pressure of bowling in such a situation was just too much and it’s moments like that which remind you how cruel cricket can be.
