Broncos Receive Positive Update on Mims’ Groin Injury

The Denver Broncos have gotten some very good news on Marvin Mims Jr’s recent groin injury. After exiting Wednesday’s practice with the medical team, Mims was tested at the hospital with an MRI and other scenarios. Head Coach Sean Payton said Thursday that Mims has been progressing well. 4 against Tennessee Titans on Sept. 7.

Mims was taken in the second round of the 2023 draft. He’s flashed major upside and has all the makings of a featured offensive player for the Broncos. During a key game against the Cincinnati Bengals on December 28, Greg Jennings had eight completions for 103 yards. That included one of the best touchdown receptions in recent memory to take the game into overtime. He finished with 39 receptions for 503 yards and six touchdowns overall last season.

Payton has been a consistent public supporter of giving Mims more run. The reason McDaniel is so high on Mims is his ability to create explosives after the catch. The young receiver’s versatility was further demonstrated as he played running back on a handful of plays last season.

Throughout training camp and the preseason, Mims has been a regular practice partner for the first-team offense, developing a strong connection with starting quarterback Bo Nix. Mims has been racking up a lot of snaps with his fellow teammates Courtland Sutton and Troy Franklin. This highlights his importance to the team’s offensive game plan.

Reflecting on his development during training camp, Mims expressed hope that his previous performances have influenced the coaching staff’s perception of his capabilities.

“That game, maybe, opened the coaches’ eyes a little bit, or made them feel more comfortable; I can do more. I want to do more, I want to earn those opportunities.” – Marvin Mims

On the field, Mims took home history this past season as he hit back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances as a returner. He led the league with a mind-blowing 15.7 Punt Return average as an All-Pro at age 25. This extraordinary display only made him more valuable to the team.

Our fans can’t wait for this season opener to join us! Mims, who’s eligible to return to practice on Monday, said he’s prepared to step right in and help the Broncos dethrone Tennessee.
