Jakobi Meyers Seeks Trade from Las Vegas Raiders

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers has reportedly asked for a trade. This move puts a cloud over his future with the team. Meyers had a terrific season, catching 87 passes for 1,027 yards and four touchdowns in 15 games. Not surprisingly, this performance resulted in the recent decision. Renowned as one of the most dependable players to step a blade of grass, Meyers’ trade request represents a new low in his relationship with the Raiders.

Meyers, who signed a three-year, $33 million contract with the Raiders in March, joined Las Vegas this season. His current deal has a base salary of $10.5 million. In 2025, his cap hit will be $14.98 million. The contract is done with any guaranteed money making it potentially complicating trade talks should they go that direction.

In 2022, Meyers proved himself as a true alpha dog offensive weapon. Those catches led to 52 first downs, which ranked Moore tied for just 18th in the league. On top of that, he had 800+ receiving yards in four of his six pro seasons, proving how steady of a playmaker he was. On the field, in addition to at least three games with over 100 receiving yards, explosive plays were common with that wideout.

Meyers does a phenomenal job of holding onto the ball, which is demonstrated by his stellar 3.6 percent drop rate stats. Last year, he only had one drop on 128 targets. He’s notable for being one of only two wide receivers in Raiders’ history to post at least 500 receiving yards in a single season. His teammate Tucker accomplished this remarkable feat.

Before joining the Raiders, Meyers spent four seasons with the New England Patriots. Overcoming the odds of his 2019 undrafted free agent status, he earned respect and recognition through his great career in Indiana.

Just last week, Meyers said he was thrilled to be joining forces with his new Raiders quarterback, Geno Smith. He lauded Smith for his precision and described him as “one of the best” quarterbacks he’s ever played alongside. This change can only bode well for Meyers’ production going forward.

“As much as they want me here. That’s really all I can say about that one.” – Jakobi Meyers

As the trade request unfolds, it remains unclear what impact it will have on both Meyers’ career and the Raiders’ offensive strategy. Both fans and pundits will be keeping an eye on how this plays out in the coming weeks.
