For the Irish skipper, Lewis assumed control again as her side chased down the Dutch total. Her leadership was absolutely essential in keeping them on track during the run. Ireland achieved the target set by the Netherlands with four balls to spare in an impressive display of both skill and conviction. Lewis made it look easy by repeatedly finding the boundary in her innings, paving the way for her team’s victory. She smashed 11 fours to complete her solid, unbeaten score.
In tandem with Amy Hunter, on the cusp of fame, Lewis laid a firm platform for Ireland’s innings. While the pair maintained excellent control over the flow of runs until Hunter was bowled, Lewis’s focus — and the match — had only just begun. After that, she simply carried her side comfortably, consistently and confidently, finishing the innings not out.
