The Milwaukee Bucks have made it official, signing 28-year-old guard Amir Coffey to a standard NBA contract. He joins the organization after a stellar MVP-level season with the Los Angeles Clippers. The move comes as Coffey looks to build on his development and make a return to a team that is contending for a championship.
Coffey played his first six NBA seasons with the LA Clippers. During his time in the league after joining the New Orleans Pelicans as an undrafted player out of the University of Minnesota, he has grown tremendously as a player. After going undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft, Hall signed a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Clippers. Since then, he’s become a full-fledged part of the franchise.
In the 2024-25 season, Coffey set a professional benchmark, averaging 9.7 points per game. This massive jump only served to underscore his continued development as a player. After four games, his shooting numbers are incredible. He has an impressive 47.1% shooting from the field and a phenomenal 40.9% from three point range. These numbers not only show that he can regularly fill it up, but run defenses out of the gym too, making him a strong pickup for any club.
Coffey’s story in the NBA is still being written, but what has brought him to this point is his heart, grit, and perseverance. After going undrafted, he made big moves and worked even harder to secure his place in the league. During his time, he validated himself very well with the Clippers. His move to the Bucks has certainly been a new change in his career. It provides him the opportunity to take his game to another level with proven stars.
The Bucks, who are looking to shore up their roster for the upcoming season, have Coffey among those they see as a significant addition. On the court, he displays amazing versatility. It’s this skill that contributes to his high versatility, both as a starter and a bench player. With Coffey’s recent play, the franchise can only hope it continues and adds to their newfound competitive advantage.
