Fanalysis, a new platform likened to “Tripadvisor, Letterboxd, Goodreads for football,” aims to revolutionize how fans engage with their clubs and share their insights. Michael McIntyre is the founder of Fanalysis and currently the Executive Chairman of the company. The new organization’s work to unite and empower fans would meet a unique and powerful need in the often hostile football environment.
The idea for the project came from a desire to build a platform where fans could truly assess their teams without bias. McIntyre emphasized the importance of fan perspectives, stating, “When it comes to their club, fans know best.” That philosophy informed the casting process for Fanalysis, which recently held live open auditions for more than 600 superfans. Every player had to write detailed match and player reports, which proved to us that these guys have a wealth of football love and expertise.
From these auditions, Fanalysis assembled a multifaceted crew of social change agents called the Starting XI. This group made up of eleven representatives for each club. They’ll be the “beating heart” of Fanalysis, determining the tone of discussions and pushing meaningful conversations from real fans to the forefront. The Starting XI will change the way we talk about soccer on television. Like the seventh season before it, starting on day one of the upcoming season, viewers will get real data.
Fanalysis has entered into a long-term collaboration with Sky Sports, widely acknowledged as the home of football. Sky Sports will show 215 live Premier League matches in the 2025-26 top flight campaign. In an effort to bring the fan experience up a notch, each club will be including their own Fanalysts. These Fanalysts will deliver player ratings, manager verdicts, and in-depth analyses of match developments, allowing fan voices to permeate mainstream coverage.
Those fans who want to join the ranks of Fanalysts can apply now at fanalysis.com. Our goal with this initiative is to build a community of supporters who are able to share their thoughts and reviews on individual players and overall team performances.
Gary Neville, Fanalysis Co-Founder, expressed his enthusiasm about the project: “Michael presented Fanalysis to me last November and it just made sense straight away. Who watches and knows the players of their own club the most? The fans.” He added that Fanalysis fills a necessary gap in fan engagement, stating, “Where can football fans properly rate their players and team’s performances on a platform with fellow supporters in the right environment? They can’t! Until now.”
