Texans Tight End Brevin Jordan Faces Season-Ending Injury

Houston Texans tight end Brevin Jordan has sustained a major right knee injury in practice on Monday. Due to this, he has been moved to season-ending injured reserve. The injury happened in a regular 11-on-11 drill when quarterback C.J. Stroud threw a pass down the seam to Jordan.

As Jordan tried to haul in the catch, he jumped but could not clasp the ball. As soon as he touched down, he collapsed to the ground, holding his lower right leg. He initially attempted to walk off the field on his own power, but the pain on his face told the whole story. Medical personnel had to carry him off, while he sat there weeping.

The experience sparked concern across teammates and coaches as everyone immediately formed a huddle around Jordan shortly before resuming practice. The 2021 fifth-round selection made a strong push for a starting job this season. He was poised to have a breakout season, accumulating 532 receiving yards and five touchdown receptions in just eight games before his injury.

It wouldn’t be the first time that Jordan would have to overcome misfortune during his career. He suffered a torn ACL in Week 2 against the Chicago Bears in 2024, finishing that game without realizing the severity of his injury. This was the newest example of the Texans’ unflinching confidence in Jordan this season. Though hampered by injuries, they signed him to a one-year contract extension for $2.1 million, with $850,000 guaranteed.

Jordan’s collegiate career with the University of Louisville also served as a springboard into making the NFL. At least with this latest injury, he’s back on track to be a free agent in 2025. On Sunday night, the Texans needed to augment their roster. They’ll have to adjust their plans going ahead without one of their most dynamic offensive weapons.
