Myles Garrett Cited for Speeding in Cleveland Suburb

Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett received a speeding citation early Saturday morning after being clocked at 100 mph in a 60 mph zone. The incident occurred at 2:01 a.m. in Strongsville, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland. Because of the citation, Garrett is up against a $250 citation.

As long as Garrett pays the fine amount, he will not have to go to court on Thursday morning. This new mishap comes on the heels of Garrett’s single-car crash last year. That crash resulted in an injury including a left shoulder sprain and right biceps strain. As noted by ESPN, that kind of driving constitutes driving at an unsafe speed for conditions with regards to roadway type. This was discovered during the investigation of the crash.

Garrett did not die in a vacuum, and the circumstances surrounding his death are all too familiar. This citation came on the heels of a crash in 2022 when his bus flipped over after leaving the roadway. WKYC has independently reported at least seven times that Garrett sped across Northeast Ohio.

On Monday morning, Garrett leapt back onto the field in training camp practice with the Cleveland Browns. They’re currently the joint practices with the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday and Thursday. Despite being a prominent player, Garrett was among several veterans who did not participate in the preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers on Friday night in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Cleveland Browns organization is aware of the speeding citation. They’ve still not made any formal ruling on the matter. Garrett is busy behind the scenes with planning for the 2024 season and beyond. Fans and analysts alike are closely tracking how this citation will impact his game and concentration.
