The Detroit Pistons have reached an agreement in principle with veteran wing player Green, league sources told @ShamsCharania. Measuring 6-foot-5, Green is projected as an off guard to add to their emerging defensive prowess to an already strong wing contingent.
Green, 32, has six NBA seasons under his belt. He’s suited up for stars-and-stripes franchises such as the New Orleans Pelicans, Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls, and Boston Celtics. During his career, he’s appeared in 263 games, with a scoring average of 5.3 points per game. Green seems to be relevant again after a season in which he appeared with the Pelicans and Cavaliers. He averaged 5.1 points per game and 3.2 rebounds per game in 68 games.
The Pistons’ wing rotation, which features young talents like Ausar Thompson and Jaden Ivey, will benefit from Green’s defensive-minded approach. In addition to Thompson and Ivey, other names involved in the rotation are Duncan Robinson, Caris LeVert, and Ronald Holland II. Green’s addition should shore up the team’s defensive front. In addition to his on-field contributions, he’ll provide a strong veteran presence and mentorship to the younger players.
