Megha Ganne Secures First USGA Title with Dominant Victory at U.S. Women’s Amateur

Megha Ganne just hit the biggest milestone in her young golfing career. Her victory at the U.S. Women’s Amateur marked her first USGA title! Ganne defeated Brooke Biermann 4-and-3 in the championship match. She demonstrated her talent and resiliency during the entire championship at the iconic links golf course.

Then the championship match opened with the two players dazzling the crowd with their extraordinary skills. They matched each other’s score on the first 11 holes to remain all square. Ganne soon found her stride, taking the next three holes in a row to take a commanding 4 Up lead. Though Biermann fought hard, winning one of the holes in the afternoon session, Ganne never lost that lead and cruised to victory in the match. Despite the tumble down the leaderboard, she recovered to finish solid, two-putting from 15 feet for par on the last to cement the victory.

Plenty of adversity stood between Ganne and the title. In her semifinals match against Ella Scaysbrook, Zhang found herself in a scary spot, 4 down with only seven holes to play. Ganne displayed a tremendous amount of toughness and talent. After she fell behind, she charged back to win to force extra holes, and her birdie on the 19th hole sent her through to the final.
