Bears’ Quarterback Williams Sets Ambitious Goals for 2025

Bears’ Quarterback Williams Sets Ambitious Goals for 2025

Caleb Williams, the generational talent 23-year-old quarterback of the Chicago Bears, is making the statement that the 2025 season should be his rookie year. In an appearance on ESPN 1000’s “Waddle & Silvy” show, ToWilly spoke about his lofty goal. His individual goals include passing for 4,000 yards this season and completing 70% of his passes. Hitting this milestone would make him the first quarterback in franchise history to do so. He knows he can do this despite the pressure from outside.

Even in his rookie season, Williams showed remarkable upside, throwing for an impressive 3,541 yards. He had a really nice ratio of 20 touchdowns to only six interceptions. This fantastic performance ranks as the fifth-best single-season output by a Bears quarterback. Williams’ head coach, Ben Johnson, has acknowledged the young quarterback’s growth during the initial days of training camp, praising his development and readiness for the upcoming challenges.

As these expectations continue to build up around him, Williams is undeterred. He said, “Pressure’s not something that affects me,” shining a light on how he chooses to focus on what’s important inside — above the noise of outside. He further elaborated on his mindset, saying, “It’s not my job to care what the outside noise is and things like that. My job is to take care of everything in here and go out there and play.”

In a single, memorable practice on Thursday, Williams learned some valuable lessons from unexpected situations that arose. Johnson said that he has certain plays already figured out for times that they want to put Williams in tough spots in practices and scrimmages. “Have a few plays in mind if that ever happens,” Johnson remarked, indicating the coach’s strategic approach to prepare Williams for unforeseen circumstances on the field.

Looking back on his rookie season, Williams is honest about the team’s issues, but stays true to his confidence in his play despite the challenges. “I know we didn’t win as many games as we wanted to last year, but I didn’t go 20 touchdowns and 20 interceptions and things like that,” he commented. He has his own expectations tempered now, but he’s still hopeful and determined to improve.

With the Bears heading into training camp soon, Williams is poised to make a major splash. He understands the pressure that comes with strapping on a helmet to compete as No. If his lofty goals and no-nonsense attitude are any indication, it should be a season of transformation for him and the franchise alike.
