The Las Vegas Raiders have locked in Kolton Miller with a three-year extension. He may be the longest-tenured player on the team, he is far from done helping them succeed. Fast forward to now, and Miller is headed into the final year of that original deal. This deal carries a huge cap hit of $15.7 million. This extension guarantees his place on the Cardinals roster at least through the 2026 season.
After his stellar 2017 season, Miller was drafted in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Since then, he’s solidified himself as an ever-constant and dependable building block for the Raiders’ offensive line. Durability goes a long way when building an NFL team and over his career, he has started 107 of 109 games with his risks and rewards. Last year the floodgates opened for Miller as he generated his most pressures and sacks since his rookie season. Still, he remains an indispensable cog in the Raiders offensive machine.
In June, Miller expressed his optimism regarding the new culture that head coach Pete Carroll aims to establish in Las Vegas. This optimistic outlook highlights his determination to do whatever it takes to help ensure the team is successful in the future.
“I want to be a Raider for life. I don’t want to go anywhere else.” – Kolton Miller
The 29-year-old franchise tackle held out altogether from the first few weeks of his team’s voluntary offseason program back in April. He was committed to playing hardball to get a better deal. His quest to stay with the Raiders resonated with his passion for the franchise and its fans.
Ryan McFadden, who reports on the Las Vegas Raiders for ESPN’s NFL Nation, said Miller’s absence would definitely be felt and hard to replace. McFadden has reported on other teams, including the Baltimore Ravens and University of Maryland athletics for The Baltimore Sun.
Miller is ready to write a new chapter with the Raiders. As fans await news of him solidifying the offensive line even more, the anticipation is understandable. His poise and wisdom will prove essential as he helps the young club realize their dreams in future seasons.
