Australia Secures Dominant Victory Over West Indies in T20 Series

Australia followed up with a record-breaking 102-run win over the West Indies, earning Australia a 4-0 lead in their T20 series. The Australian team didn’t just win the match, they delivered a victory of epic proportions. Then they astutely pursued the West Indies’ set 207-run target to win.

The West Indies, who won the toss and batted first, posted an intimidating total. They lost 7 wickets for only 206 runs in total in 19.2 overs. The West Indies’ Jediah Blades was the brightest star. He finished the match with 3 wickets for only 29 runs in his 4 overs! Despite this effort, the Australian batsmen quickly dismantled the West Indies bowling attack.

In reply, Australia reached 134 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in only 11.2 overs. Cameron Green was the man leading the charge with his brilliant knock of 55 not out off a mere 35 deliveries. He was greatly assisted by Josh Inglis who struck 51 off 30 balls. Glenn Maxwell had an explosive innings of his own, hitting 47 runs off only 18 balls before he got out.

Mitch Marsh could not perform as expected, scoring no runs and walking back to the pavilion after facing only two balls. Sean Abbott was barely a part of the chase, ending with 1 not out from his only ball faced.

No surprises in the West Indies squad, but their bowlers really failed to take control of the Australian batting lineup. Jason Holder took 1 wicket for 38 runs in his 4 overs, while Romario Shepherd secured a wicket, conceding 59 runs across his 4 overs. Matthew Forde had a hard game, conceding 43 runs in his 4 overs. At the same time, Akeal Hosein was roughed up for 36 runs in only 3.2 overs.

Extras were the most influential players in the field. 75 of the West Indies’ runs came from extras, with a no-ball and a number of wides playing a part.

Shimron Hetmyer took a brilliant catch at long-off to get rid of Hardie off a Jason Holder delivery. The West Indies as a collective didn’t have any notable impact on the scene through the game. Brandon King did not bat in this innings.
