Tuanzebe Initiates Legal Action Against Manchester United Over Clinical Negligence

Tuanzebe has recently filed a lawsuit against MUFC for clinical negligence. The 27-year-old former defender claims that inadequate medical advice contributed to a series of injuries that disrupted his career at the club. Tuanzebe came through Manchester United’s academy and made 37 appearances for the first team. Unfortunately for him, his momentum was stunted by a string of injuries that limited his availability on the field.

Read Tuanzebe’s full legal claim filed on July 9. Specifically, it focuses on the medical guidance he was given during his time at the club. As 2019 progressed, the player injuries began to stack up. He endured a serious hip injury after warming up for a key fixture against Liverpool. At first glance, this injury spell appeared to be a minor bump in the road for the player.

In December 2019, Tuanzebe was injured in a Carabao Cup win over Colchester United. That injury ended his season just three weeks into it. He suffered further misfortune when a foot injury ruled him out at the beginning of the following campaign. This setback was just the newest example in a frankly alarming series of physical injuries.

Tuanzebe’s struggles did not cease there. Just as the 2022/23 season was about to start, he suffered a major injury again—a partially torn knee ligament. It was not until January 2023—about a year later—that he was able to fully resume training after tackling these nagging ailments.

Personal life Tuanzebe was born in Bunia, Democratic Republic of the Congo. He wanted to resurrect his career and get more minutes on the court.

At Stoke, he made an even more overwhelming impact, winning over 40 appearances. His contributions were key in the team’s promotion to the Premier League for the 2023/24 season. After this successful loan spell, Tuanzebe would later join Ipswich Town on loan in 2023, continuing his development and career.

At Manchester United, they had a promising talent in Tuanzebe that should’ve been developed properly. He was unmatched in his skill and talent on the pitch. Like all great talent, his injury has prevented him from commanding a spot on the team consistently. The current lawsuit does draw attention to the club’s medical practices and their effect on player health and performance.
