Lancashire T20 Captain Keaton Jennings Prepares for Roses Derby against Yorkshire

Lancashire T20 captain Keaton Jennings is gearing up for a highly anticipated clash with their historic rivals, Yorkshire, at Emirates Old Trafford this Friday at 19:00 BST. The fixture has proven extremely popular, with nearly 17,000 tickets already sold for the match. Her past two face-offs have been rained out. This time, he’s looking at a favorable forecast and is optimistic that the weather will cooperate.

Lancashire are second in the North Group standings as things stand, with four matches left to play in this season. Jennings knows what’s at stake in the Roses match-up. Lancashire are looking to get back into the knockout stages for an eighth straight season. He expressed his desire for the squad to recover from their recent loss at Edgbaston. Sadly, that loss lost them their spot atop the group.

We want to win both [games against Yorkshire] anyway because it’s the old foe,” Jennings stated. Saturday’s match is the first of two regular season meetings between the two teams. They’ll meet again at Headingley just six days later.

Though he has stepped down as captain of the red-ball format, Jennings still leads Lancashire’s T20 team. He’s got a fantastic group all ready to pop out with potential. Included in that list are the white-ball heroes from England, namely Buttler, Salt, Saqib Mahmood and Luke Wood. Jennings commented on the remarkable quality within his team, saying, “When you look at the quality of cricketer in that room, it’s sensational.”

Yorkshire, eighth in the North Group, look to have missed out on the quarter-final places already. Still, Jennings never downplays the rivalry’s importance and the pressure that accompanies the rivalry game. “It doesn’t happen very often but it does come with an expectation of winning, which is nice,” he remarked.

The captain of Lancashire during the 2022 season, he emphasized the positive culture of collaboration and examination of one another’s experiences and strategies. “It’s nice to walk into a room with so many international caps and bounce ideas off guys that have played in so many conditions around the world,” he said. This sharing of expertise is key as they each continue to get ready for highly competitive games in their ongoing fight for glory.

Jennings is excited to imbed confidence and positivity from the outset as they look ahead to the big match. “It’s an exciting day – touch wood, the weather is set fair after the last few years – so [we’re] keen to go and play some really good cricket,” he added.
