Young Prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi Sets Record with Fastest Century in Youth ODIs

At 14 years of age, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is already winning headlines. He’s got the fastest one ever at youth one-day internationals! Suryavanshi set the stage on fire with a blistering display of batting in the fourth youth ODI against England. His superb batting performance brought India a 55-run win over West Indies. He played an innings for the ages, smashing 143 runs off just 78 balls. This incredible effort propelled India’s final score to 363-9 in their 50 overs.

Suryavanshi’s knock was absolutely monstrous and featured a stunning collection of 13 fours and 10 sixes with utter disdain to the bowlers. His explosive 159-run partnership with fellow opener Vihaan Malhotra for the second wicket was one for the record books. Collectively, they obliterated an astounding 219 runs in partnership, often providing the backbone for their team’s innings. This partnership combined with Suryavanshi’s aggressive batting style was instrumental in India’s successful run, lifting them out of a tough spot.

Leading up to this game, Suryavanshi had already displayed signs of his potential in the series. He had remarkable high scores of 86, 45, and 48 delivery. He was splashed all over the front pages earlier this year, during the Indian Premier League (IPL). In doing so, he became the youngest player to score a T20I century in any men’s top-level T20 format, powering a 35-ball century for the Rajasthan Royals.

In the process, Suryavanshi obliterated the old mark for the fastest century in youth ODIs, set by Pakistan’s Kamran Ghulam’s 53-ball blitz against England back in 2013. He surpassed the record of being the youngest player in either the India or England squad by an incredible two-and-a-half years. His meteoric fame has raised some eyebrows. Fans are now stopping him for selfies in airports and on flights as he hops from city to city on his UK tour.

India’s team management is quite aware of the growing focus around Suryavanshi. More importantly, they are taking steps to make sure that this burgeoning young talent does not get scared away from it. The pressure is bound to increase on this promising cricketer as he continues to wow crowds with his performances.
