He highlighted their leadership, which we all know they need to fully tap into the talent of their exciting young trio of stars in Ja Morant, Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr. Despite their youth, this core has shown flashes of greatness. Iisalo’s challenge now is to simply focus their talent and channel their intensity and ambition into improving them.
Memphis Grizzlies Under New Leadership

Jenkins’ replacement wasn’t an easy decision for the team to come to after watching the underwhelming performance continue to pile up. His record would prove insufficient to make the playoffs. With advanced experience and a different perspective, Iisalo should represent a refreshing change of pace for the Grizzlies. His appointment is a watershed moment for the franchise. Most importantly, they are passionate about making sure they continue to develop homegrown talent. The challenge ahead is great, but the opportunity is exciting, considering the level of talent already on board.

Other Teams Making Coaching Moves
The changes have been even more striking on their opponents’ sidelines – with the Denver Nuggets getting an especially fresh facelift. Assistant coach David Adelman has been promoted to head coach. His promotion to the top role represents the organization’s hope for continuity and stability among their ranks. After a disappointing 34-48 season last year, there would need to be exceptional leadership from here on out.
The new head coach Mitch Johnson takes over in San Antonio. He is more than rising to the occasion to bring the competitive edge back to the Spurs. Johnson’s appointment is an indication of the franchise’s direction towards newer methodologies, staying true to its longstanding dogma of prioritizing player development.
Moreover, the Phoenix Suns added Jordan Ott as their new head coach on June 4. Ott takes over from Mike Budenholzer. He’s trying to bring the positive vibes to a still talented roster that has failed to find traction over a full season. Since 2018, James Jones has served as the agency’s lead executive. He is supremely confident in Ott’s ability to help right the ship and bring the team back to playoff relevancy.
The State of New York and Sacramento Kings
The New York Knicks aren’t the only ones excited about the upcoming east coast hoops adventure. The roster highlights stars such as Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns. Now I’m not saying these guys are the second coming of versatile wings like OG Anunoby, Mikal Bridges and Josh Hart. Add to that their impressive depth with Mitchell Robinson and Miles McBride. After a strong 2023 campaign, the organization is committed to furthering their newfound success and sets their sights on a deep playoff run.
The Sacramento Kings are in a tough spot. They’ve missed the playoffs in all but three of the past 33 seasons with the aforementioned David Adelman at the helm. They remain committed to changing their roster through the process with new, young talent. As members of the Pacific Division in the Western Conference, the Kings are determined to find ways to improve and build a better, more competitive roster for their future.
As teams across the NBA try to adjust to new coaching dynamics, fans can definitely look forward to a highly competitive season.
