That said, the Cleveland Cavaliers got a whole lot better by adding versatile, veteran forward Larry Nance Jr. Though it’s only a one-year deal, it’ll be a huge addition to their frontcourt depth. Nance, 32, has made his way to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Just last season, he was an explosive force who appeared in 32 games for the Atlanta Hawks before an Achilles injury sidelined him for the remainder of the season.
Last year, Nance put up 8.5 points, 4.3 boards, and 1.6 assists a night. His performance showcased his ability to impact the game on the offensive and defensive end of the court. Sadly, his season was cut short when he incurred a nondisplaced fracture in his right knee in early February. This injury caused him to miss all of the rest of the games during that season. Now, he’s about to start his 11th season in the league!
Nance’s last deal with the Hawks had been a two-year $21.5 million contract. He’s excited to leave a mark with his new team and do just that. The Cavaliers are bringing him in as more depth to the frontcourt equation. This change will provide great insurance to current starting centers Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley. This brilliant play gives them not only the deepest rotation in the league but the most experienced depth on any title contending squad.
In addition to Nance, the Cavaliers welcomed Lonzo Ball this summer, further strengthening their roster as they gear up for the upcoming season. In addition to adding these new players, they brought back guard Sam Merrill—maintaining important continuity while adding new blood and skill to their roster.
The Cavaliers hope to get the most out of their young and impressionable squad as they look ahead towards navigating through the detours of a murky upcoming campaign. Nance’s versatility and experience will make all the difference as they mount their campaign. Combined with the talent on their roster, that sets them up to make a strong impression in the league.
