LeVert’s Journey: From Cavaliers to Hawks and a New Chapter Ahead

Shooting guard Karis LeVert has stolen the show. His blockbuster mid-season trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Atlanta Hawks earlier this year came in as the fourth biggest in dollar amount. He formally signed with the Hawks in February. This followed his trade for De’Andre Hunter, representing a feather in the cap of what had been a tumultuous career arc.

LeVert started last year with the Cavs, adding to a tremendous young core and becoming the swing player that opened championship windows. As the season moved on he found himself playing fewer and fewer minutes. Playing off the bench limited his opportunities to show what he could do. In 64 games, LeVert had highs of 12.1 points, 3.2 boards and 3.4 assists. His performance showed that he can be a real contributor all the way around, even as he adjusted to a bench role.

The trade to the Hawks provided a new… leathery beginning for LeVert. Yet at the same time, it presented him a stimulating chance to reinvent his place in the game. It was an audacious move indeed by the Hawks to trade up for De’Andre Hunter. This move not only adds to their depth chart, but it provides LeVert an opportunity to carve out a significant role on the team.

LeVert’s unique skill set makes him one of the NBA’s most versatile players. Averaging over 12 points per game illustrates his scoring capability, while his rebounds and assists reflect his all-around contributions on the court. He’s shown us flexibility and fortitude. These traits will be essential as he starts this new chapter of his career with the Hawks.
