Jake Knapp recently caught national attention when he shot a hot 11-under 61 at the PGA Tour’s Rocket Classic. Not only did he surpass that record — which had been set less than 24 hours earlier! His accomplishment highlighted his immense talent. He became the first player in the tour’s history to card a score under 60 and a round of 61 or less in the same season.
Knapp the best as she completed an amazing performance at the Rocket Classic. This follows just a week after his career-best 59 at the Cognizant Classic. The score was one stroke short of the tour all-time scoring record. Jim Furyk has held that record of 58 since 2016. Knapp had broken the tournament’s scoring record a month earlier at the Cognizant Classic. Only four short months ago, he placed T6 in that very tournament.
Ranked 99th in the world, Knapp has proven to be a real success story on the tour. He was the first player this season to shoot 61 or better in two different rounds. It’s his remarkably consistent and exciting performances that really have golf fans, players, and pundits buzzing.
Reflecting on his performance, Knapp admitted that feeling upset the night before may have fueled his drive on the course.
