On the flipside, the decision to hire outside talent has done nothing but raise the level of competition between the players currently on the roster. Each a strong contender, they all offer a different arsenal of talents to the race. That strikes an interesting balance as the team prepares for camp.
The Browns struggled to find a solution to their quarterback issue. At the same time, the Toronto Blue Jays took it as their opportune moment to troll. The Blue Jays cruised past the Cleveland Guardians, 6-0. The very next day, the baseball team trolled the Browns for their inability to find a quarterback. The timing of the Blue Jays’ remarks seemed particularly pointed given the Browns’ uncertainty at the quarterback position.
The four QBs vying for the job all present different skill sets and challenges. Joe Flacco, the elder statesman of the group, obviously hopes his veteran guile can carry the day and earn him a job. Kenny Pickett, with his former mentor, Mike Tomlin of the Steelers, watching, Pickett looks to show that he still has something left in a different environment. Dillon Gabriel, the collegiate star, is hungry to prove himself at the next level while Shedeur Sanders looks to continue expanding his increasing profile as one of the next great young talents.
As the Cleveland Browns lay the groundwork and plans for next season, the team of course has to tread carefully through this tricky situation. The coaching staff will need to evaluate each player’s performance closely to determine who will take the helm as QB1. The stakes could not be higher, and this is the competition that fans have been craving and hoping for.
