Scotland Claims Victory Over Nepal in T20 Series Finale

Scotland rounded off their T20 series against Nepal with an emphatic 34-run win at the Grange Cricket Club in Edinburgh. Scotland’s quality batting was the story of Saturday’s match as they produced a total of 194 runs to chase down. They then went on to limit Nepal to a mere 159 runs in 18.5 overs.

The Scottish side reached a challenging total of 193 for five. They were anchored by George Munsey, whose unimaginably good knock of 78 runs featured six mighty sixes. Brandon McMullen continued a great offense, adding 42 runs of his own. He was subsequently dismissed bowled first up by Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane. Munsey expressed his enjoyment of the match, stating, “I really enjoy getting going when I can especially in front of a home crowd. I just love hitting sixes.”

In reply, Nepal soon fell behind the run rate they needed. Rupesh Singh’s batting prowess shone through, as he anchored the innings with an impressive unbeaten 43 runs. At the same time, Airee pitched effectively, earning the win with 34 runs. The Scottish bowlers proved too effective. Chris Greaves took 3/27, including the key wicket of Nepal captain Sandeep Lamichhane, putting the brakes on Nepal’s chase. In 2019, Varun took the wickets of both Rohit Paudel and Rijan Dhakal, which helped Nepal’s early collapse.

However, despite their best efforts, Nepal were not able to make the target and were bowled out for 159 runs and lost by 35 runs. It was a superb performance by Scotland’s bowlers and fielders that ensured the historic win. George Munsey highlighted the team’s collective effort, saying, “Everyone mucked in and got the job done.”

Head coach Watson praised the growth of the squad, noting, “The key takeaways for me is the squad is growing now.” He reflected on the series, mentioning the competitive nature of the matches: “We’ve had some really tough and close games which bodes well for the future.”
