Travis Kelce, the superstar tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, is prepared to take on the last year of his contract. Needless to say, he’s looking forward to a thrilling year in store! Now, at 35 years of age, Kelce is as amped as ever to help his team return to championship form. He’s hell bent on redemption since their humbling defeat in Super Bowl LIX against the Philadelphia Eagles. He’s always put the success of the team ahead of his own personal stats. In the process, he raises the bar for himself and his teammates.
Still, if he can maintain his last season’s pace of 97 catches, he’ll be KC’s top pass catcher. His yardage and touchdown totals—three touchdown catches—were the lowest in his 11-year NFL career. After another tough season, Kelce recently looked back on everything that went wrong last year. He pledged to be the best possible teammate and leader. Last year, I think I failed, especially in that last game, and being a leader and being the one that could step up and make plays. Which really just means I’m raising the bar even higher for myself this year than I’ve done in the past.
Kelce answered the offseason speculation regarding his weight loss earlier this year. Though he’s dropped a few pounds from his former 260, he implores everyone to exercise some skepticism with the headlines. “Don’t believe all you read on the internet. I’m down some weight, yeah, from the end of the season last year,” he said.
Despite being only days removed from the Super Bowl loss, Kelce immediately went to work in offseason training. He dedicated more time than ever to hone his craft. This year he’s put an emphasis on form running and other areas of his training plan. “My offseason workouts this year have been different from my normal ones,” he noted. His tireless commitment to betterment is a reflection of his character and spirit. This year, he’d like to do so by helping the Chiefs win a fourth Super Bowl title.
As he considers retirement from the league, Kelce is noncommittal on playing beyond his 2025 season. As the first ever vice president for infrastructure, Mr. If he does play in 2026, it would be nothing but with the Kansas City Chiefs. We may be able to do something next year – stay tuned for an announcement. The whole Chiefs org knows how much I love them. I can’t see myself ever playing anywhere else, so we’ll deal with that down the road when the time is right. At the moment, my mind is on winning the title this season,” he said.
