Former Raiders Player Apologizes to Victim’s Family at Las Vegas Event

On June 18, 2025, Henry Ruggs III, former wide receiver for the Las Vegas Raiders, tweeted an apology. Speaking to the family of Tina Tintor at the memorial event. Ruggs, you may recall, drove his sports car at a mind-blowing speed of 156 mph almost four years ago. This reckless and unnecessary act created a deadly collision that killed 23-year-old Tintor and her companion dog, Max.

On November 2, 2021, Ruggs crashed into Tintor’s car, causing it to burst into flames. Immediately after the incident, he was subject to harsh legal consequences. In May 2023, Ruggs pled guilty to felony DUI causing death and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. In response, he was sentenced to three-to-ten years in prison in August 2023.

During an event for Hope for Prisoners in Las Vegas, Ruggs gets emotional discussing how he hurt others with his reckless behavior. He said he was truly sorry for the hurt he inflicted on Tintor’s family. “One, I wish I could turn back the hands of time,” he stated, highlighting his remorse for the irreversible consequences of his choices.

At the time of the accident, Ruggs was on special release from prison. He said that he hoped Tintor’s family would remember him in a different way than just a headline. He said he would love for them to meet the actual Henry Ruggs. That’s the person he wants them to see—the person who isn’t running away from anything. To anyone who was affected by my role in that, I deeply regret being a part of it. It was irritating to have my face plastered all over the national press and newspapers. So we have to keep them on the hook all the time, keep them thinking about what’s going on, thinking about me.

Ruggs opened the program at this special event and spoke directly to the community. He candidly spoke about his own path to accountability and personal transformation. He makes no excuses for the way he squandered his youth-filled chances. His hope is to make his story be a canary in the coal mine for others.
