On August 8, the New England Patriots will be dedicating a 12-foot bronze statue to one of their greatest quarterbacks. This unique ceremony will occur shortly before the start of their preseason game vs. the Washington Commanders. This unveiling follows the establishment of “Tom Brady Day” on June 12, a date that carries significant meaning: 6/12 not only reflects Brady’s six Super Bowl championships with the Patriots but his iconic jersey number.
Brady, who recently celebrated his 47th birthday, is hailed as one of the most elite athletes in NFL history. He captured six Super Bowl championships as quarterback of the New England Patriots. In his 2020 season, he won that record seventh championship while quarterbacking the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His unparalleled success includes three NFL Most Valuable Player awards and multiple league records for completions, pass attempts, passing yards, and touchdown passes.
Last June 2024, they unveiled the statue. This event happened to take place during Brady’s week of induction into the Patriots’ Hall of Fame. The statue will eventually take its place in a prominent plaza outside the Hall of Fame. It will honor his great success with the franchise and more importantly, recognize his long-lasting legacy all throughout the entire league.
Patriots owner Robert Kraft told the NFL Network during the 2019 draft that he had great admiration for Brady, praising the quarterback’s contribution to the franchise and its legacy.
“The statue will stand alone in the plaza outside of the Hall of Fame to symbolize his position, not as the greatest in franchise history, but as the greatest in all of NFL history,” – Robert Kraft
The unveiling ceremony should be quite the spectacle, for the fans and the organization alike. In doing so, it will honor a player who best represents the Patriots’ success. During that period, Brady’s relationship with head coach Bill Belichick was the key to the Patriots’ dominance. Their steadfast partnership proved to be the key ingredient throughout their tenure.
As anticipation builds for the August event, fans are eager to pay homage to a player who has left an indelible mark on professional football.
