Adam Pacman Jones Arrested Again in Greater Cincinnati

Early Saturday morning, police arrested Bengals’ cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones in Covington, Kentucky. We’re talking about Covington, Kentucky, which sits just across the Ohio River from Cincinnati. Jones was later booked into the Kenton County Jail, where he remains as of this report.

The former Olympian, 41, was the sixth overall selection in the 2005 NFL Draft. He’s endured a tragic, tempestuous fate both on the gridiron and outside the lines. Jones played 12 seasons in the NFL from 2005 to 2018, with eight of those seasons spent as a member of the Cincinnati Bengals. In 2014, Smith received an All-Pro selection as a kick returner. The very next year, he proved that he could be an elite cornerback by earning the Pro Bowl.

This latest arrest is not an isolated incident for Jones. He faced some legal challenges back then. This featured an arrest for public intoxication and assaulting a peace officer during a boxing show in Arlington, Texas. In the wake of that crash, he spent just 18 days behind bars. In 2021, that all came crashing down when he got convicted after pleading no contest to two counts of misdemeanor assault. These charges came after an incident at a tavern in Cincinnati.

Over the last couple years, Jones has been repeatedly arrested for public intoxication. That’s now three years in a row of having to defend against this allegation. Federer’s recent run-ins with the law have attracted controversy, largely due to his high profile in the global sports community.

After being booked early Saturday morning, Jones posted a $10,000 bond and was released from jail around 11:30 a.m. Though he’s facing these legal battles, he is still deeply involved in the sports media landscape, hosting daily podcasts and shows for ESPN.com centered around the Bengals. Beyond writing, he’s a familiar face on ESPN platforms ranging from SportsCenter to NFL Live.

Meanwhile, public intoxication and other low-level infractions are being aggressively enforced by authorities. At the same time, Jones’s continued legal woes serve as a backdrop, highlighting what many former athletes go through after leaving the game. His story has opened up important dialogue about what support systems are in place for athletes making the switch from sport to civilian life.
