England Names Euro 2025 Squad Amid Injury Concerns

Sarina Wiegman has confirmed her 23-player squad for the forthcoming Euro 2025 in blazing fashion. The beautiful creation is scheduled to begin production in July so stay tuned. Now, England are preparing to play against some of the best sides across Europe. They start their campaign on July 5th in a daunting clash with France. The team is without a few key replacements. Most recently the team’s all-world defender Millie Bright withdrew from the tournament focusing on her mental and physical health.

Bright, who has undergone a minor knee surgery, expressed her struggles, stating, “Mentally and physically I’m at my limits.” Wiegman reiterated that conversations about Bright’s future with the national team are now suspended. The team’s eyes have firmly turned elsewhere, with the focus now on preparing for the Euros.

Key Players in the Squad

The roster that Wiegman has put together is a captivating blend of experience and youth. Wiegman has picked three very good goalkeepers. They include the likes of Hannah Hampton from Chelsea, Khiara Keating from Manchester City and Anna Moorehouse from Orlando Pride.

The back line includes world-class talents such as Chelsea’s Lucy Bronze, Gotham FC’s Jess Carter, and Arsenal’s Leah Williamson. On the younger side, it features potential rising stars like Maya Le Tissier from Manchester United and Esme Morgan from Washington Spirit.

In midfield, established names like Georgia Stanway from Bayern Munich and Keira Walsh from Chelsea are expected to play pivotal roles. The forward line still features the likes of incredible talents such as Lauren James and Beth Mead. Both players have become indispensable for their respective clubs!

Standby List and Absences

Millie Bright’s absence will be an emotional loss for the squad too, given her leadership qualities, experience and, of course, as one of its core members. Along with Bright, other experienced stalwarts such as Mary Earps, Nikita Parris, and Fran Kirby have missed the cut. Parris, with 74 caps to her name, continues to miss out and finds herself on the standby list.

Wiegman acknowledged the challenges faced by players in top-level football. “That’s the demands of the game both internationally and domestically. They’re at the highest level; they have to perform and show up – but they need some rest, too.”

Excluded from the tournament for the first time in history, Wiegman still expects big things from her team. “We’re in a very good position. Players are coming back, we’re still building. We have options in the squad and the competition’s really high. I’m confident we’ll do well,” she stated.

Preparations Ahead of the Tournament

England prepares to launch its Euro 2025 campaign as their new network development continues. Official preparations start on June 16 at St George’s Park. After the draw, the team will play Jamaica in a friendly match on June 29. The match, to be hosted at King Power Stadium, is an important step in their preparation for the tournament.

The standby players will remain with the team through June 30. So, these new champions will be poised to really dive in once the team heads off to Switzerland. This approach underscores Wiegman’s commitment to assembling a deep and talented roster. Her team is looking to soar above the expectations and fly higher than they ever dreamed.
