Kenny Clark’s Road to Recovery Following Foot Surgery

Kenny Clark’s Road to Recovery Following Foot Surgery

Kenny Clark, a three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle for the Green Bay Packers, is in the process of recovering from foot surgery. He had the procedure in early January and is recuperating well. The surgery mainly concerned correcting an ongoing issue with his right foot. This was a topic that had bugged him since the season opening game. Clark was battling a toe injury throughout the course of the season. Nevertheless, he stuffed the stat sheet in 17 regular-season games and the playoff loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

His difficulties first started rearing their ugly head when he travelled to Brazil with Team Canada, where he faced horrific field conditions at Arena Corinthians. He described the experience as challenging, stating, “It was trash, man. I’ve played in snow, I’ve played in rain, I ain’t never played on a surface like that.” Clark’s right foot planted in the turf, leading to a gruesome lower body injury. This major setback resulted in a cascade of issues that severely affected his play all season long.

Throughout the year, Clark’s presence on the field was marred by his toe injury, which appeared on the injury report multiple times. He finished with the lowest tackle total of his career since his rookie season in 2016. This year, he languished with just one sack, a precipitous drop after registering 15.5 from the last three years added together. Looking back on his struggles, Clark said, “It was a hard year for me.”

The situation at Arena Corinthians continues to be a topic of discussion, particularly with upcoming games slated to take place there. The Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs are set to kick off at Arena Corinthians on September 5.

Clark was cleared to take part in individual drills again at OTA practices this week, a good sign that he’s made significant progress in his recovery. His return to practice pretty clearly sends a message of optimism to the fans and his teammates as they all start looking toward the 2016 season.
