Calvin Harrison produced a match-winning spell for Northamptonshire vs Gloucestershire at the County Ground, Northampton. He proved to be not just an impressive leg-spinner but a worthy lower order batsman. On loan from division rivals Nottinghamshire, Harrison hit a career-best 63 runs. He played a critical role with the ball, taking two key wickets to keep their team on top of the contest.
His innings was the centrepiece of a colossal Northamptonshire total of 469. That excellent showing was predicated on Saif Zaib’s incredible 159. Harrison’s partnership with Liam Guthrie was particularly notable, as the duo combined efforts for a ninth-wicket partnership of 90 runs, proving instrumental in boosting the team’s score.
Throughout his batting display, Harrison exhibited confidence and finesse, driving the ball effectively on the off side and even managing an all-run four off Archie Bailey. He backed it up with intent, taking Miles Hammond’s wicket with two aggressive bouncers in a row. This adventurous display went on to further ennoble his stance at the crease.

Then, to send the players off to tea, he bowled Ollie Price’s reverse-sweep directly to the hands of backward point, ending with outstanding figures of 2-40.
Harrison’s all-around talent has been a key difference maker for the River Ducks this season. His batting resilience and impactful leg-spin has sharpened the entire team’s cutting edge. They further highlight why he could be such a tremendous addition on a temporary deal from the county of Nottinghamshire.
