Baltimore Ravens have signed veteran nose tackle Justin Jenkins to compete for a backup route. They need help on their defensive line after losing Michael Pierce. At 35 years old, Jenkins has already achieved an incredible depth of experience and resilience. He has played in 45 straight games over his career with the Ravens.
Jenkins stands 6-foot-3 and weighs in at 327 pounds. If you look at his body of work over his 12 seasons in the NFL, he’s put up elite statistics. Now, in his fourth season, he has registered a staggering 319 tackles. He totaled 46 tackles last season, and in 2023, he set a new career-high in 61 tackles. Jenkins has achieved 15 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks during his extensive career, showcasing his ability to disrupt opposing offenses.
Prior to his time with the Ravens, Jenkins started with the Philadelphia Eagles for four seasons. His path included stops with the New Orleans Saints, Seattle Seahawks, New York Giants, Chicago Bears, and the Las Vegas Raiders. His versatility and adaptability have made him as useful as a Swiss Army Knife, providing flexibility to any scheme he plays in. Last year, Jenkins played a career-high 898 snaps, and the 6’7”, 310-pounder showed he could handle them in an impressive display of endurance and dependability.
The bad news is that the Ravens have lost out on Jenkins. They’ll aim to do that despite the loss of Pierce, an anchor in their defensive front. By bringing on Jenkins, the Ravens look to improve their run defense and add a veteran to their front line.
