As they embark on one of the most important periods in the club’s modern history this May, it’s fair to say Tottenham Hotspur has been through the ringer.
The club has confirmed that Lucas Moura will no longer be featuring for the remainder of the season. He got injured badly on his ankle. This Tottenham development is the second bad news in as many days before Spurs’ crucial run of matches, including an important Europa League semi-final. Tottenham coach Ange Postecoglou declared Lucas hurt himself during the warm-up to the match against West Ham on 4 May. This injury only adds to the growing list of concerns for the squad.
Lucas was not the only starter missing from that recent win against Bodo/Glimt. Bergvall missed out as he sprained his ankle in training. That 3-1 victory over Bodo/Glimt turned out to be a key result in their Europa League run. As the team loses key players including ringmistress Bergvall, this has been a huge blow to the troupe.

Injury Updates
The ever-growing injury report has to be alarming for fans and the organization. Postecoglou addressed Lucas’s injury in a press conference, stating, “Lucas looks like the injury is significant to keep him out for the rest of the season. He tweaked the ligaments in his ankle.” The manager had serious doubts about Lucas being able to play a part in the weekend fixtures. He highlighted the importance of evaluating Lucas’s state more seriously.
Along with Lucas, Postecoglou singled out some other players who’ve been dealing with fitness question marks. On Solanke, he said that the striker is a doubt to play this weekend. On the downside, it seems that he might have sustained a bad injury. The most worrying scenario is that of James Maddison as he’s suffered a knee injury, for which he has already been scanned.
“We will make changes to put in a strong performance but also to give some players a rest. We also need to get some up to speed.” – Ange Postecoglou
Managing Squad Depth
Now, with a number of between, Postecoglou has his work cut out for him with how he manages his squad depth. The coach is apparently keen on rotating players to ensure they stay competitive across all fronts. He too recognised the need for a balance between performance improvement and player welfare as they enter a busy period of matches.
Adding to the uncertainty, Postecoglou mentioned Son Heung-min’s recovery, stating, “Son is out on the grass and feels better every day. We will see about Thursday.” As Tottenham adjusts to maneuvering around such injury dilemmas, the strength of this new-look team will be put to the test in their fixtures ahead.
