Travis Hunter, the remarkable two-way wide receiver/cornerback at the University of Colorado, is different. He won the Heisman Trophy excelling in both positions on the field. His all-around excellence this season has earned him the national spotlight. Now, he finds himself in terrific shape for the 2020 NFL draft.
Hunter’s father, Travis Hunter Sr., was just granted special dispensation to be allowed in attendance at the NFL draft in 2025, which will be held in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He had received an exception to travel restrictions as part of a three-year probation deal stemming from a 2023 arrest. This remarkable development comes on the heels of that decision. Parties reached a settlement leaving the terms of this agreement outstanding a 90-day jail sentence that Hunter Sr. has since served.
Hunter Sr. was unable to attend his son’s Heisman ceremony in New York. Even despite that, he made contact with America’s sweetheart, Travis, during a very emotional acceptance speech. In front of a captivated audience, Travis expressed his feelings towards his father, affirming their bond despite the distance imposed by circumstances.

Travis Hunter developed an intense spiritual connection to his father. He said with full assurance that he would return the trophy back home.
“I know you wanted to be here and you can’t, but trust me, I got you. I’m bringing the trophy home. I love you.” – Travis Hunter
Hunter Sr. just recently got approved to come to the draft at Lambeau Field. There, Travis is expected to be one of the first names called. It will be a giant step for dad and son when the NFL draft rolls around. Now, they have the opportunity to experience this historic time as one unit.
Hunter Sr. during the draft itself, with access only in limited areas. Beyond that, his hotel, anywhere he goes, the entire grounds of Lambeau Field. Regardless, this opportunity is a great placemaking turning point for him, giving him the opportunity to see all that his son has accomplished in person.
