Rising Star Vaibhav Suryavanshi Becomes Youngest Player in IPL History

Apart from his recent exploits at the U19 level, Suryavanshi has been leaving a mark in the Ranji Trophy tournament as well. He had debuted for Bihar last January at the ripe age of 12. Since then he’s played five Ranji Trophy games and made 100 runs at an average of 20 with a top score of 41. His performances have given him a huge repute of being one of the best Indian young prospects.

Before auction Suryavanshi’s inclusion among the drafted players in the IPL is indicative of the growing faith in young cricketers in the country. He was a part of the India Under-19 Asia Cup winning squad last year, which underlines his potential and skill level. He made the jump to professional cricket at an early age and shortly thereafter to the IPL. While this personal success certainly is worth celebrating, it represents a larger and newfound shift in Indian sports toward fostering young talent.
