This win has pulled Man City ever closer to the Magpies, as Pep Guardiola’s side had fallen 13 points behind. It creates the amazing possibility of a thrilling end to the season!

The battle for Champions League qualification goes deeper than just the top three sides. Chelsea, sitting in seventh, are just five points behind fourth-placed Newcastle. This tight race indicates that any slip-ups from the teams above could allow Chelsea to capitalize and secure a coveted top-four finish. Nottingham Forest are not out of it yet! As it stands they can even leapfrog Newcastle, should they win their three points-earning game in hand on Spurs.

Liverpool’s spot in next season’s Champions League is already safe, with their place having been mathematically clinched. Arsenal look set to make it three, parked as they are in third, six points clear of fifth. With the recent performances they’ve strong-armed this season, they’re looking strong as they head into the final stretch.

Aston Villa’s impressive run has placed them in contention, and they would surpass Arsenal on goal difference if they manage to finish above them by season’s end. The competition is deeper than just the top few clubs. Clubs such as Newcastle, Manchester City, Chelsea, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa are all engaged in a cut-throat dog-fight for the final three places in next season’s Champions League.
