To the author, that’s the brilliance of Kawhi Leonard – and it was on full display during Game 2 of the Western Conference playoff series. His all-around brilliance carried the Los Angeles Clippers to a 105-102 win over the Denver Nuggets. Thursday night’s game represented a true pivoting point for Leonard. He’s always battled injuries this season, limiting him to just 37 games.
Leonard’s offensive showing came right from the start, making his first six field goals in just nine minutes of action. He capped the night with a stunning 39 points on 15-for-19 shooting, a red-hot reminder of just how good Murray can be. His scoring touch is just off the charts elite. By the end of the night, he had put that performance on defense too, directly keeping the Nuggets to only five points.
Leonard’s production was all the more impressive given the physical tolls he was listed with this season. He missed an additional 23 days for inflammation in his right knee, one of a handful of chronic injuries that have plagued him throughout his career. His history of doing his best work after losing momentum is a welcome sight for the Clippers. It generates a lot of buzz and enthusiasm among their constituents too.
