The Tennessee Titans are going to great lengths to find their next quarterback. Cam Ward has quickly become one of the strongest contenders in this race. At Miami’s pro day, he put on a show and turned heads to get the attention of the Titans officials in attendance. His unique on-field talents have mesmerized the entire world. Paired with his upbeat demeanor, he’s turned into one of the most popular names in NFL draft circles.
He also began his college career at Incarnate Word. Over a span of only 19 games in 2020 and 2021, he threw for an astounding 6,908 yards and 71 touchdowns. In 2022, Ward had transferred to Washington State and immediately proved to be a special talent over two eye-popping seasons. Not long after, he found his way down to Miami. In Ward’s only season with the Hurricanes, he recorded 4,313 passing yards with 39 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
Ward might have a colorful history to show for himself, but the draft prospect keeps his feet on the ground.
"I told them 'I'm solidifying it today,'" Ward said after his impressive workout.
Ward's connection with Coach Callahan and the Titans' leadership further underscores his potential fit with the team. After completing a touchdown roll-out pass during the pro day, Ward leapt into a raucous conversation. He interviewed with Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi and president of football operations Chad Brinker. His admiration for Coach Callahan is evident.
"I think Coach Callahan's one of the best head coaches out there," Ward stated.
The Titans on Monday added Brandon Allen, a move to shore up their quarterback depth. Now, they’re looking into and pursuing every possible avenue to strengthen their team culture. Ward has a successful track record working with Joe Burrow. With the draft fast approaching, Tennessee just recently hosted the explosive QB for a second private workout and throwing session. Make no mistake, the Titans are especially sensitive to their quarterback situation after a rough rookie year for Coach Callahan.
Ward dealt with the stigma of being a zero-star recruit from West Columbia High School in Texas. Through sheer will and talent he has risen to the top of the draft conversation. Though Adams isn’t worried about being No. His success on the field has earned him high value in spite of that.
The Tennessee Titans are already taking offers on their first overall pick. They’re now asking for a far more generous package if they choose to go down. The overwhelming interest in Ward is a compliment to his skills and the prospect he obviously has to someday develop into a franchise quarterback.
