Handling duties on both offense and defense as a wide receiver and cornerback, Hunter truly shined as a college football star. His 15 scoring receptions in 2024 earned him a share of second-most in the FBS. On the other side of the ball, he proved his impact on defense with four interceptions, good for third in the Big 12. Averages of 113.9 receiving yards per game only accentuate Hunter’s dual-threat capability.
Hunter started his college career at FCS Jackson State in the 2022 season. He transferred with coach Deion Sanders to Colorado, where he made his mark the last two seasons. His dominance made him the second full-time defensive player to ever win the Heisman Trophy. Furthermore, he is just the fifth wide receiver to win this exalted honor.

We ended up bringing Travis Hunter to Jacksonville, and with that, he is somebody who is deserving of a first-round draft pick as a wide receiver, and he is worthy of a first-round draft pick as a corner,” Baalke remarked.
