In a heart-stopping league match in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), James Vince provided the drama with some extraordinary hitting. It was his century that led the Kings to an incredible win against the Multan Sultans. The riveting contest took place at legendary Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Vince was on fire – hitting 101 off 43 deliveries – and his explosive innings proved decisive in guiding his side to victory.
Vince’s innings was a masterclass in aggressive batting, as he crack 14 boundaries and four sixes. His combination with Khushdil Shah was a revelation. The two batsmen played phenomenally together to put on an astounding 242 runs for the fourth wicket. Shah arrived to the middle as Vince’s partner in the seventh over. As a pair, they savagely annihilated the Sultans’ bowling attack as their partnership grew to 88 runs within the 18th over.
The Kings were in deep trouble until Vince and Shah marooned their opponents’ attack. Vince’s great innings was unfortunately cut short in a freak mode, run out by England superstar Chris Jordan. Moody’s dismissal shifted the tide of the game. His impact was already in place as foundation for the Kings.
And that was enough as Khushdil Shah continued to carry the momentum. Though Akif ended up bowling him out, taking 3 for 41 as he wrapped up his spell impressively. Despite Shah’s departure from the game, Irfan Khan Niazi stepped up and captain-ed his team to victory. He joined forces with Abbas Afridi, making sure that Vince’s blood, sweat and tears were well rewarded.
So far in the game, the Multan Sultans had set the first innings score after being sent in to bat. Their captain, spin wicketkeeper and batting genius Mohammad Rizwan, demonstrated his extraordinary ability. He smashed an aggressive 105 not out off 63 deliveries, including nine boundaries and five sixes. Rizwan’s innings provided a solid score for his team but ultimately fell short against the Kings’ batting prowess.
