Scotland crushed Thailand 6-0 in their most recent game of the ICC Women’s World Cup qualifier. The match was played Lahore, and Scotland’s win was very convincing. On [insert date], Scotland avenged their earlier loss to Pakistan in their opening match in a nail-biting contest. Despite the weakened impacts, they demonstrated unbelievable resilience just to get in the top-two finishes in the double-elimination tournament.

Batting first Scotland were bowled out for 206 runs in 41 overs. And leading the charge for Scotland was Katherine Bryce – who hit a very respectable 60 runs from 58 balls. Trailing right behind her was Megan McColl, who added another 57 runs to the team’s scoring efforts. The pair’s gutsy display gave Scotland the best possible platform as they posted a formidable target for their opposition.

In reply, Thailand capitulated to a powerful Scottish bowling unit. They awoke too late and limited themselves to just 148 runs in 31.3 overs before being dismissed. Natthakan Chantam proved to be Thailand’s shining light, top-scoring with 63 runs. While that was a standout performance, she didn’t have much support from her teammates, with most falling prey to Scotland’s excellent bowling tactics.

Scotland’s bowlers continued to be on form as the match swung back and forth, spearheaded by Rachel Slater who took three wickets to lead the attack. Katherine Fraser and Abtaha Maqsood were instrumental in leaving their mark on the sport. They took turns to claim three wickets apiece, completely shattering the Thai batting order. Their combined endeavours meant that Thailand were never able to mount a serious challenge to the Scottish score.

This win has set Scotland up as strong contenders to move out of group stages after notching their second victory in the tournament. Along the way, they’ve already celebrated two victories. Today, they are all for the first time desperately pursuing a top-two finish in order to qualify for their first World Cup tournament next summer.
