Manchester United Leads the Race for Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo

Manchester United are reportedly at the front of the queue to land Bournemouth loanee Antoine Semenyo. They will face fierce competition from their fellow Premier League powerhouses such as Liverpool FC and Tottenham Hotspur. The chase for Semenyo, who has made a significant impact since joining Bournemouth, is heating up as the summer transfer window approaches.

The red-hot Semenyo Bournemouth paid Bristol City £10.5 million to secure the signing of Semenyo in January 2023. Since then he has found his form and proved a great asset, netting 11 goals in all competitions this term. The 23-year-old forward has four years left on his current deal, putting Bournemouth in a pretty decent negotiating position. Their valuation of the Semenyo is set at £70m. It’s a clear indication that they’re not ready to let him get off this easily.

Manchester United’s new head coach, Ruben Amorim, is a huge fan of Semenyo and fought to bring him to Old Trafford. He has a lot of good ideas how to get him plugged into a remodeled attacking front for the coming season. His excitement for the player definitely gives an air of urgency to Manchester United’s chase. The competition is just as hot, with both Liverpool and Tottenham showing heavy pursuit as well.

Each of the Premier League’s big six — with the exception of Arsenal — having reportedly made a bid for Semenyo already. This newfound interest is a reflection of his increasingly important profile in English football. Despite the interest from rival clubs, Bournemouth aims to retain the player while seeking a lucrative deal that reflects his contribution to the team.

The shape a possible Semenyo deal would take at this point is still very much up in the air. Some, including Lowy, speculate that a mix of the two – a lower fixed fee supplemented by performance-related add-ons – would work better. This tack mirrors Bournemouth’s previous transfer with Tottenham for Dominic Solanke. It would offer a rock hard template for the years of negotiations to come.
