Lilia Vu’s most recent run of 41 straight bogey-free holes came to an end at the Whirlwind Golf Club. She was able to hold on to her lead through the notoriety of the round. Vu’s streak came to an end on the sixth hole. Then a disastrous double bogey on the 14th hole was the turning point on being in contention of the tournament or not. The double bogey brought her back to even par and into a tie for the lead. Charley Hull took a risk on the 16th hole that paid off big time. Then on the par-4 third, she made a left-to-right breaking putt from 15 feet for birdie, pulling her even with Vu atop the stressed leaderboard.
Vu was off to a strong start at the tourney, though her momentum was stopped in its tracks by trouble on the course. Korda’s double bogey six on the par-4 14th hole opened the door for Hull to put on the pressure. After a spectacular birdie on 16, Hull continued to hum. She capped her round with a 12-foot birdie putt on the 18th that set her 14-under 202 after a 68. This disappointing outcome positioned Hull right on Vu’s heels. Her performance pushed her into the final group of Sunday’s round, with only 18 holes to determine the champion.

Zhang put on a show, firing the best round of the day with a 65. She did all this despite carding a bogey on her last hole, making her accomplishment even more exciting. That left Zhang alone in second place at 13-under 203, just two shots behind Vu heading into the final round. Her A+ game commitment level promises a war of fierce competition as the tournament advances.
Vu’s caddie provided targeted support to help her stay calm when things got tough.
