Tyrese Maxey’s Absence Continues as 76ers Struggle in His Absence

With Philadelphia 76ers’ blossoming talent Tyrese Maxey, he will miss at least two additional games as the injury progresses. Maxey has quickly emerged as a centerpiece of the 76ers’ success this season. He won’t suit up for the first three home games against the Miami Heat and the Toronto Raptors. This ruling puts him off the field for an entire 15-game season. That’s a huge blow to the team, who are reeling through a historically bad stretch.

Maxey has been an integral part of the 76ers, boasting impressive stats this season. He’s recording a career-most 6.1 dimes and 3.3 boards per outing, all while averaging 26.3 points per game. His superlative seasons netted him a place on his first All-Star team. He was recently voted the NBA’s Most Improved Player for the 2023-24 season. His contributions stopped suddenly with a sprained finger and long-standing back issues. Ever since that defeat at the hands of the Portland Trail Blazers on March 3, he’s been a non-factor.

Maxey’s absence has coincided with the worst stretch of the Philadelphia 76ers’ season. The team now sits in the thick of a six-game losing streak, having lost nine of their last ten games. The slump has highlighted just how badly the team needs Maxey’s presence on the court. His scoring and playmaking talents couldn’t come at a better time.

As Maxey continues his recovery, the team hopes for his return to the lineup in their next potential opportunity against the New York Knicks. With his magic, he might just offer the big lift to turn back their recent misfortune and re-span their competitive bridge.
