Rhian Brewster Eyes New Contract After Stellar Season at Sheffield United

Rhian Brewster is healthy and fully committed to staying fit. His goal now is to continue his rise after a promising debut season with Sheffield United and earn a new contract. The one-time United States international forward, 23, has a deal at Bramall Lane that runs out this summer. His terrific form on the pitch has certainly made a good argument for a contract extension. Brewster’s performance has been instrumental in Sheffield United’s promotion push, scoring three goals and providing three assists this season.

Even with his progress, Brewster is realistic about the hard road he’s had since joining the club in 2020. He’s already missed half of Sheffield United’s games this season from injury. He credits the club’s management for handling his playing time well, enabling him to stay fit and perform at his best.

“You obviously want to play all the minutes you can, but they’ve managed me well.” – Rhian Brewster

Brewster has made 29 league appearances for Sheffield United this season, 11 of those as a regular starter. That’s made it his best campaign since joining the Blades. Being more in tune with his body now as he’s grown up is something he feels has been important in helping him stay healthy and avoid injuries.

“Obviously my body was just letting me down a little bit. But I’m doing the right stuff, not that I wasn’t doing the right stuff then.” – Rhian Brewster

On the field, Brewster’s season hit its zenith when he scored the winning goal in the Steel City derby. For that particular moment, he has a great love.

“I’d missed the first game at Bramall Lane and was disappointed not to be involved, so to play in this one and score the only goal, and have the fans chanting my name, it was just amazing, an amazing feeling.” – Rhian Brewster

Brewster has seen his memorable derby goal a few thousand times, he says — enough to make him happy, though he contradicts himself on that point.

“One of the staff here asked me how many times I’ve watched it, and I told him ‘not enough’.” – Rhian Brewster

Brewster is committed to using this experience to shape a better future for himself. He wants to expand upon that this season and help the team win matches more with direct goal involvements with more goals and assists.

“Then I’ve just got to keep kicking on each game. Help the team by either scoring or assisting, then working as hard as I can.” – Rhian Brewster

He never loses faith in himself, not once. He’s a player finding his feet and becoming the dominating and dangerous player he showed glimpses of at Liverpool and with England’s U21s.

“I’ve never stopped believing in myself and that I can try and become the player I know I can become.” – Rhian Brewster
